Co/Work

Co/Work at Grove + Prairie was born out of a vision to create a shared office environment that serves both anchor tenants and smaller teams, freelancers, and remote workers looking to get out of their basements and into a place where they could thrive. The project was part of the larger revitalization of the Grove + Prairie building, a once mostly vacant 100-year-old downtown Bloomington warehouse, transformed into a vibrant hub for work, creativity, and community. The dream was to make it more than just an office building; it was to become a place where people connect, build, and belong.

Working closely with Workbench Architects (now Hewn Studio), we preserved the character of the original structure, including exposed brick, tall ceilings, and historic industrial bones, while thoughtfully designing an interior that feels open, modern, and full of natural light. Co/Work now stands as an inspiring blend of old and new, with curated spaces that balance functionality, style, and comfort. Every design decision was made to support productivity while sparking connection between those who share the space.

The layout includes a mix of private offices, dedicated desks, and open café-style seating for flexible work. Shared amenities include well-equipped conference rooms, private phone booths, a kitchenette, restrooms, fiber internet, and daily coffee service, all geared toward making the workday seamless and energized. The environment fosters not only individual focus but also organic interaction across industries and roles.

More than just a co-working space, Co/Work at Grove + Prairie is a testament to what happens when thoughtful design meets community-centered vision. It is a place where legacy architecture supports today’s workforce, where entrepreneurs and remote professionals can plug in and feel at home, and where Bloomington’s future continues to take shape, one connection at a time.
